SPECIALTY
Teen TherapyThere are many challenges with being a teenager, and sometimes it can be nice to speak to an adult who is not your parent or teacher. I have experience working in schools as well as meeting with teens in their community and at my office. If you are hesitant to meet with a therapist, you can always try it out one time.

A place that's just yours
Being a teen can be really rough. There are so many things to manage including social life, academics, family relationships. Judgements and comparisons from peers can be brutal and show up in all sorts of ways, but especially on social media. And it seems like teachers want you to stay up all night doing homework instead of sleeping. Not to mention, the pressure you get from your parents to get good grades AND help out at home. And these are just typical aspects of being a teenager, but if you have experienced trauma and/or gender identity differences it can be even harder.
Talking to your parents about your problems isn’t always what you want to do. So that’s where I come in. I am a neutral person who has worked with tons of teenagers, and I don’t judge. What you discuss with me is private, with the exception of safety concerns. Sometimes I will encourage you to talk to your parents about a particular issue or offer to meet with you both, but I will never force it (except around safety). I will also trust and believe your experience.
I work with teenagers in all sorts of ways. Sometimes you might not feel like talking, and we can play a game, take a walk or make some art. I support teens on the same issues I help adults with like anxiety, depression, relationships. Sometimes just sharing your story with a caring person can help. When it doesn’t, we can use other therapeutic tools to manage your stress and help you feel better about yourself and your life.
